Mini-Post: 5m 25m Ulduar: Algalon

March 12, 2013

So I recorded our fun times in Ulduar last night and I’ll be releasing them on YouTube soon.  I already uploaded one for Algalon you can see it below!

Just to do a quick run down of all who was involved:

Blood DK in dps gear item level: 481

Windwalker Monk item level: 485

Fury Warrior item level: 493

Beast Mastery Hunter item level: 460

Disc Priest item level: 481

As you can see none of us is super geared so just think of what you can do if you have even better gear!  This video was just to show you that it is possible and how easy it is.  So if you have enough friends to form a 5m you can get into Ulduar and farm yourself a legendary, or t-mog gear, achievements, etc…so get going!

Love is in the Air: Silvermoon City is Lonely

February 13, 2013

Silvermoon City

In trying to finish up all my holiday achievements during the Love is in the Air event we had to go visit Silvermoon City.  Now I am a blood elf fangirl and if I can play a belf I usually do. I love their lore and it’s some of my favorite in the game.  However since Mists of Pandaria was released I haven’t been anywhere much other than Orgrimmar, Dalaran and the Shrine of Two Moons. And I have to admit I am so tired of looking at Orgimmar and having to go there for portals and what-not that I’ve resorted to calling it the dirt city.

Anyway, when we arrived in Silvermoon City to give my finally taking a stand leader a bracelet, I was overwhelmed once again with the beauty of Silvermoon.

The city is easy to move around and find things in. The layout makes sense and flows well. It is very large and has many short cuts through the buildings to make it even easier to get around.  The amenities that the City offers are vast! There are plenty of inns, auction houses and places to lounge with your friends.

WoWScrnShot_021313_160427

The architecture is beautiful with deep color curtains and open buildings to enjoy the warm fresh air.  After all you know us belfs keep it a very comfortable warm atmosphere.  The buildings are tall and tower over you without making you feel tiny.  The warm glow from the buildings make the city light up even more.

WoWScrnShot_021313_161109

Speaking of fresh air, there are plenty of benches to rest on in and outside of the city with friends as you take in our well cared for landscaping! We take great pride in our mesh of environment and luxury.

WoWScrnShot_021313_161547

Not only does the city have amazing landscaping, Eversong Forest has beautiful trees and waterfalls to enjoy picnics at with that special someone. Nothing like looking out over a falling waterfall under a canopy of leaves changing beautiful colors.  We also have secluded beaches to watch the sunset.

WoWScrnShot_021313_161809

For you lore buffs out there we still have The Dead Scar that you can visit to see what true horror came to call on the original Silvermoon and our people. Feel free to take a walk down the full Scar and see where it takes you! Take the time to experience our past!

WoWScrnShot_021313_161929

I know the things that Silvermoon lacks which include flying and portals, but even passing up on these things every now and again can’t be that bad can it? Come enjoy the life and luxury of Silvermoon City. Stroll our streets with friends and remember the joy of riding your favorite land mount that just maybe no one has seen in a while.  You don’t even need a reason to visit, just pop over, pull up a hookah pipe and relax!

Collector’s Corner: Transformation Items

November 28, 2012

This past week I’ve being doing some fun older things in game and I came across some items that I’ve had that allow you to transform.  This is always something fun about Warcraft and I have a friend who collects as many of these items as possible.

One of my favorites on my Alliance toons is the Orb of Sin’dorei (featured above with my Belf Shaman visiting the King).  I love popping it while standing in a major city and walking around like a belf.  One time I actually had someone try to attack me and then ask me what was going on.

My friend who also collects some of these items has a favorite one just because it scares me.

Yes that is my priest horrified as a giant Skettis Arakkoa clings to her.  She thought she would be transporting a friend to another area but some how this creepy bird showed up.  My friend loves his Time-Lost Figurine and uses it to scare me all the time!

All of the transformation items are great fun and bring another fun element into Warcraft.  So after collecting some recently, I thought it would be great to make a list of all the items found in game that allow you to transform into someone, or something else!

So…MoP…Yea…Whatcha Been Up To?

November 15, 2012

As you read in my last post I have leveled my pally up to 90 and I have done a few things on her in this new expansion, however I thought I would give you an update on what else I’ve been up to in Warcraft.

Shortly before MoP was released I changed my paladin’s professions to mining and herbalism.  This was for two reasons, she was going to feed the tank’s paladin’s blacksmithing profession to make us gear and the herbs would be going to my mage for leveling her alchemy so we could have living steel bars and gems for the tank’s jewelry crafting.

While we were leveling our paladins through MoP we would give them nights off to build rest and we would work on our second team of toons, our priest and death knight to get them leveled.  My priest was my first main and she is our enchanter and our local tailor.  The tank’s death knight is his engineer, as well as miner.

We took turns working on the teams giving them time off here and there and finally with the Headless Horseman looming we power leveled the last bit to ding 89/90 on both teams.

We haven’t done much along the lines of dungeons or scenarios since both teams reached 90.  We did a few though and I have to say I really wish scenarios offered more since they are so fun for me.

The tank and I are working away on our dailies and I finally unlocked the epic tailoring recipes so my priest will be in some pretty epics within the next week. The tank has made himself an epic chest piece for his paladin, however since the blacksmithing recipes require Spirits of Harmony he is spending a lot of time farming them in the hopes to make my paladin a chest piece next.

Also, while leveling both teams we got our little guild up to a level 10! I’m so proud of us and I’m thankful to Blizzard for making it easy for small guilds to level this expansion!

In my spare time at the start of MoP I made a belf monk and got her up to around level 37 healing a friend on his monk tank, however I have put her down to pick up my other characters that are a higher level.

I have also been working on my baby druid and got her up to level 87 with my mom’s mage.  I have to say it’s been an interesting experience with the two of us, I’m used to running with a tank and she’s used to being alone leveling.  I have attempted boomkin but so far it hasn’t gone well and I usually resort to going resto and making her a mage tank, which I’m sure freaks her out some lol.

The tank and I have also picked up our Alliance toons, my shaman and his other death knight, getting them up to level 87, all the while leveling our small Alliance guild to a 4!  We aren’t focusing on their professions as much since they are more just for fun, and I do have to say leveling elemental is insane fun.

Finally, I got my mage and warlock’s professions maxed for MoP so we have an alchemist and inscriptionist on hand as they slowly start the new areas in MoP.  I’m loving my warlock as demonology and I haven’t found a spec I like for my mage.  I feel so underpowered on my mage compared to my lock that I’ve paired her with a friend’s warlock to help her level a bit until I figure her out.

This seems like a lot but it’s really not considering how little the tank and I play due to real life obligations.  So what have you guys been up to since MoP came out?  Only working on one toon or have you jumped into the world of your alts yet?

4-Man Raiding: 25m ICC

November 13, 2012

Since reaching level 90 and getting some gear upgrades our 4 man group decided to attempt 25m ICC to see what kind of damage we could do.  We are also working on getting our friend shards for his Shadowmourne quest line and were curious to see how many we could help him collect.  We are hoping that we can get all that he needs to get the legendary weapon.  The shards drop on 25m mode and aren’t a guaranteed drop from the bosses but the more you can get down in ICC the better chance you have of collecting them.

I’m pretty happy to say we defeated 7 of the 12 bosses, so let’s get into the nitty gritty and discuss the players, and the strategies.

The Players:

Protection Paladin – item level 448

Ret Paladin (off spec heals) – item level 475

Arms Warrior – item level 469

Holy Paladin – item level 448

Your basic make up can change to a certain point however, you will need at least two people who can heal for the Valithria Dreamwalker encounter, we didn’t attempt with just one but it might be possible but will drag out the fight for those on the outside of the portals.

Icecrown Citadel 25m

The Lower Spire:

Lord Marrowgar: This fight is a pretty straight forward tank and spank.  The only issue we had at first were the spikes and we dealt with this by stacking on the tank.  And actually the healer can stand right under Marrowgar so they can get casts off without being in fire or spiked.

Lady Deathwhisper:  This fight is pretty easy, not too much trouble.  Just remember that the mind control is going to be your worst part of the fight.  Be ready to knock out the mind controlled person and you should be good.  There are ghosts, but their damage isn’t anything compared to what it was back in the day.  For the adds we put the tank on one side, one dps on the other and had the healer pull the one from the back.  The adds die pretty fast.  Just be aware of the re-animated corpse that Lady Deathwhisper will resurrect.  This left at least one dps on the boss and let the side who killed their adds first handle the one from the back of the room without moving much.

Gunship Battle:  This encounter is very very tricky as you will need to do more damage to their ship before they do it to yours.  We wiped a few times on this before we figured out our strategy.

One Important Tip: Make sure you have at least one person standing on the ship, not in a gun, when the fight starts or it will reset.

We had the healer, and the warrior in the guns the whole time.  The tank was in the guns with the other two until the guns were frozen by the mage and then the tank grabbed the adds while the ret pally jumped over to dps the mage.  As soon as the ret pally got back on our ship the tank jumped back on the guns passing the adds onto the ret pally to dps down.

The three people on the guns HAVE to stay at them at ALL COSTS, and the tank had to when he could.  The minute the guns are unfrozen everyone needs to get back into them and get back working on the guns.

This was by far the trickiest fight we encountered with the little bit we attempted so far.  Be aware of the damage you are inflicting on the other ship and have self heals ready to be used.

Deathbringer Saurfang:  We thought this fight would be more complicated than it was so we were pleasantly surprised at how well it turned out.

We had the ret pally stand with the tank on Saurfang to taunt off each other.  We had the holy pally stand in the back near the portal with righteous fury on to draw the adds to her, then the warrior took the adds down.  This fight worked out really well with our make up, and the healing didn’t get very engrossing until towards the end of the encounter.

The Plagueworks:

Festergut:  This fight is so easy to zerg, and that’s what we did.  Healer stood at range and everyone else stood in melee and we just dpsed the boss down.  The tank and ret pally taunted off each other at 8 stacks, as usual.  Easy tank and spank.

Rotface:  This is another zerg encounter.  We did have the holy paladin kite the ooze but other than that it was very easy to handle.

The Frostwing Halls:

Vallthria Dreamwalker:  This encounter we had the ret pally go holy so we had two healers to use the portals.  The adds on the outside had the usual priority as in regular, but don’t forget (like we did) that adds come out of all four hallways around Vallthria, not just the first two.

For those that are on the outside of the fight, have self heals ready since both healers will need to be focused on the boss.  Also, if you can spare a heal go ahead and throw it on Vallthria to help speed up the encounter.

This fight was pretty easy, however it was just a little long so be ready for a longer encounter than the others.

After Vallthria we called it there with it being late and not too sure about our strategies for the other encounters.  We did attempt Professor Putricide but couldn’t get the oozes down in enough time.  We are currently reconsidering our strategy for that encounter (I’ll take any suggestions too!).

I was pleasantly surprised at how easy many of these fights were for our little 4m team!  We got our friend closer to getting his shards for Shadowmourne and we also got some nice transmog gear too.  So if you want to go into 25m ICC with a small group it is definitely do able with a group as small as 4, so get in there and have some fun!  If you come up with other strategies for the other bosses please feel free to share them here or send me a private message.  We are happy to take any advice or see things from another perspective!

Mini Poll Post: To Stay Rested or Not?

October 19, 2012

I dinged level 90 on my Pally (sorry no screenshot to share but enjoy the one of my friends monk lol)! I closed in on the achievement late last night with my tank coming in fast behind me (I kinda cheated with having two gathering professions lol).

Afterwards we were talking and discussing how happy we were with the questing in the game and how fortunate we had been to be rested all the way to 90.  In fact all of our girls are rested to 90 and if they aren’t rested we don’t work on them.  To us being rested is a smart and easy way to make leveling a bit faster without a lot of effort.

In talking about this we wondered if other people, while leveling, did this.  I know some folks who play sometimes feel that if they are too far away from an inn, they will just log off wherever they are, wither it’s on a rock in the middle of nowhere or in a waterfall.   So this got me curious to do a mini-post with a poll, do you always try to maximize your rested time while leveling? Do you take the effort to go back to an inn and maximize your rested experience in game?

Why Do You Love Your Server?

October 16, 2012

As the tank and I continue to push through levels on our girls I’ve noticed something that I’ve never noticed before in World of Warcraft.

I love my server.

No seriously I really do love my server.  Think about that statement for a second, when was the last time you said that about your server?

The tank and I have played on two kinds of servers in our Warcraft career before the one we are on now, one was a low population PVP server (where we spent most of our time) and the other was a high population PVE server.  We didn’t care for either one, neither one felt like “home” even when we were with friends and family there.

We started out on the low population PVP server, now we both hate PVP and aren’t good at it at all, like seriously we suck at it.  We ended up there by a lack of communication on server name and the shear ignorance of what PVP meant.  The economy on the server was not very healthy and prices were through the roof on some items that didn’t need to be.  We made friends and had a guild and did a lot of raiding but we were never happy with the PVP aspect, and honestly with the general population on the server.  Trade chat would instantly dumb you down for at least 50 points and then the whole idea of world PVP with characters 20+ levels above you just didn’t sit well.  We were in two guilds over our time there but neither felt like we belonged, we enjoyed some of the people but we just didn’t mesh well over all.

We then transferred to the high population PVE server to raid, however it was just too crowded for us.  The tank and I have a running joke that we play MMOs to be anti-social.  Don’t get us wrong we love seeing people around and lending a helping hand but there is a point when too many is just too many.  The economy on the server was healthy but at times it seemed a little too competitive and I know we personally received a few hate mails from people who told us we were selling items incorrectly.  After feeling like small fish in a huge pond and not connecting with others on the server we came back to our PVP realm to be with our previous guild and friends.

Even when we came back it just wasn’t what we wanted.

I finally decided to try a Role Playing server, something I had always wanted to do. I found one that was medium population and had a guild on it that I hugely respected (I considered joining them but passed).  I made a toon there and instantly, I know this sounds silly, felt at home.  The economy on both factions was healthy, the people were actually helpful, and it had a nice mix of RP and PVE going on.  I transferred one of my girls there, made my own guild with the help of friends and family and fell in love.

The tank and I have mentioned to ourselves often that we enjoy our server but not until leveling in Mists of Pandaria did we both fully realize that we love it.  We have met and encountered so many nice people across both factions that not only interact gracefully but assist when in trouble! I can’t tell you how many times a wonderful Alliance person has assisted us in killing things if it gets out of hand, and on numerous occasions we have helped them on our Horde girls.  We’ve shared laughs with folks, dances and battles with many wonderful people!  It’s nice to be on a server where fun knows no faction.

It’s amazing that it has taken me so long to finally figure out what I want in this game server wise and I’m so happy that I have finally found it.  It’s nice to know that it’s not too much to want a place like the one I’ve found.

I can honestly say I love my server, can you?  What makes you love it?  How long did it take you to find your home?

Two Weeks into MoP

October 9, 2012

So it’s been two weeks since the Mists of Pandaria expansion was released for Warcraft and so far I have to say I’m thoroughly enjoying it.

The tank and I haven’t had much time to mess around in the game much due to real life obligations shortly after it was released, however recently we seem to be making up for lost time. We have two toons that are 87 and my Alliance Druid is closing in on 87 as well. We have decided to pair up our girls to get the most out of our professions. The tank is already maxed on jewelry crafting and of course mining. I am close behind in tailoring, enchanting, mining and herbalism. My pally’s picking herbs skills are helping my level 85 mage, Nelana, who is resting comfortably in Dalaran while leveling her alchemy at the same time.

So far we are enjoying everything about this expansion, even though we haven’t checked it all out yet. At this moment we are currently just questing and reading everything we possibly can about the story. I have to admit I like it more than I thought I would when the expansion was announced. The graphics are gorgeous and the story flows from one area to the next smoothly.

Within the “starting” area of the Jade Forest I already felt my emotions getting pulled by the events that took place there that both factions take part in. As I’m playing both Alliance and Horde I loved seeing the difference in the starting quests and was a bit disturbed by some things that both sides did. So far the new races that are encountered are interesting, and have left me feeling conflicted.

My favorite quest so far, at least Horde side is the field report and how they capture the “White Pawn” and the love affair that takes place. It makes for a good laugh and smile. The Alliance side version of this quest was good for a chuckle but the Horde wins it for me overall in this case.

One change that was made in the game has really made the tank and I super happy.  Since we are a super small guild (we are a guild of 2) we never thought we’d be able to level our guild.  However, do to changes we have recently had our guild ding level 5 and are 50% to level 6.  This jump in guild experience is great for small guilds and it’s nice to have some of the perks that we thought we’d never have!

I know that the tank and I are nowhere near completed with our questing and our experiences and I’m very excited about that. Don’t get me wrong I do want to see the dungeons, the LFR, and heroics (LOVE SCHOLOMANCE) but we are in no hurry to get there. We are doing as the Pandas say and we are slowing down.
